Born and raised in Manhattan, Myra Carrion-Nacel went from her public school education to the study of dance and choreography. She obtained a bachelor's degree in dance and human movement and did clown work for special needs kids through the Bond St. Theater. Her desire to work with all ages and to study at the Master's level took her to NYU for her training in Therapeutic Recreation.

While working at the New York Foundling Hospital, Myra came to Silvercrest for an internship, and, happily, stayed on after obtaining her 1996 degree. She works in every area of Silvercrest, but found her "heart" was on the 4 North Dementia Unit.

"The love you get from the residents is hard to describe, and they know who loves them and cares for them."

The teamwork and the fact that the residents "always come first" is something that Myra loves.

"The residents are the reason I come to work. When I leave at the end of each day, I know I've made a difference."
